5:1-7 The one I love the living God created a vineyard and looked for fruit but got stinky fruit. The vineyard was not bad God had prepared it, the nation of Israel wasted God's grace. 5:8-30 Woes and judgements, the result is always death. 5:26 God calls the nations. The people of God are not Israel but the church. Faithful read the Bible, pray for what God can so and you cannot. Have compassion address injustice. Care about you own sin, do not be a finger pointer. Value the things that God values.

Prophets and Wonder

How do prophets talk? How do events facing Israel 800BC affect the future. The prophets point to salvation that Jesus brings when he returns. Israel's past history Genesis 1 to 1Kings10 speak of Creation, Exodus, Covenant/Law, Promised land, promised King, Jerusalem and the temple. 1 Kings 11 to Malachi are about the NEW creation, New Exodus, NEW Covenant etc. God is promising to bring salvation through judgement. It is time to wonder at what God has done and imagine the world that God will bring.
